Binocular vision.

The Carl Zeiss-Jena Observation Binocular. I was so going to give this ugly green monster a miss when I happened to read the comment review from a user – ‘From my viewpoint , I have a free view of 50-60km.’ Er…60 km? That’s unbe-Peeping Tom-lievable. Anyway if you read the blurb this is the ultimate in optical marvels, only 400 ever made to secret plans and now selling for $2,299.00. Whoosh! [Thanks Jerry].

No finer optical fire control binocular/stereo rangefinder has ever been made. The viewing characteristics of the glass are superb, converting from super-wide angle low-power viewing to a high-resolution 16x with the flip of a switch. In addition, the widely spaced objective lenses provide for virtually 3-dimensional viewing with an exceptional depth of field. The welded aluminum housing is pressure sealed with numerous desiccant canisters contained therein, along with built-in de-humidifying valves.

  • Reminds me of the days we used our shipboard firecontrol rangefinder to scope out the ladies- er uh- navigational landmarks along the San Diego harbor.

  • Ho ho ho, naughty sailors… :-)
