Every time we turn round, blam, there’s another portable power brick coming on to the market. Anyone would think that smartphone batteries are puny or something. Nah, that can’t be the problem can it? Anyhoo, we’ve seen and reviewed a fair few, but we’ve not seen anything like this thing from Germany.
The Brinnel Private Cloud is a fairly conventional portable battery power pack, featuring 5200 mAh of Li-Ion power along with a clever USB stick and WiFi dock combo which lets you carry your data around with you, and share it amongst friends, family and business colleagues on the exec jet. Hence the ‘cloud’ in the product name. Geddit?
There’s nothing truly revolutionary about the unit, but we do like the fact that it’s finished in a nice plush set of materials like Nappa leather, which should suit Mr Executive Veep nicely, and the fact that you get to carry around the data all tucked up in the USB stick. So when you’re not accessing your files via the hotspot you can use the dock as a USB charger for your tablet and phone. Neat idea.
The battery run time as a dock is 10 hours or so, and as you’d expect from all the Gucci styling the thing is not exactly cheap, starting out at €179 for the 32GB model, and ending at €339 for the 240 GB Macassar Wood version. Very chic, dude.
