We’ve all seen those movies where someone has to navigate through a series of lasers to steal some valuable item from a heavily-guarded location. But how many people actually have such a security system in place? Not very many, I think. I would imagine that contracting someone to install something that lavish in your home would cost a pretty penny. However, if you want to put your DIY skills to the test, you can do it yourself on the cheap.

One Instructables user has crafted their own Laser Trip Wire Security System for around $50 or so. It comes complete with a keypad for arming/disarming, and a very loud siren. The way he currently has it setup would make it easy for an intruder disarm the system. However, a bit of tweaking, and you could run the laser down a hallway, or through an entire room. Then you can spend hours trying to get through it using smoke and your ninja skills. Heck, I almost want to build one just so I can do that.
