Camera Sim lets you practice with a DSLR

Have you ever wondered how a DSLR functions? While you can set it on auto and operate it in the same manner as your point-and-shoot, it’s not going to yield the best results. To unlock the full potential of the device, you have to learn how to adjust the manual controls. Well, if you’re in the market for such a camera, you can get in some practice time with this handy Camera Sim.

This site gives you a simulated viewfinder, and a “subject” to capture. You can adjust the lighting, distance and focal length of the subject, to simulate different real-world scenarios. Then, you can have your hand at adjusting the ISO, aperture and shutter speed of your “camera.” Once you have your settings in place, you can take a picture, and see how it would likely turn out. This means you’ll see the motion blurs from a slow shutter and even the noise from a high ISO setting. Even if you already own a DSLR, it’s still a good bit of fun to play around with.
