Candle Carver – Turns fruit into candles, what could go wrong

Image

At first glance, this Candle Carver looks like something arty and new, allowing you to make decorative candle holders out of fruit by coring out a hole for tealights.

And then it sort of dawns on you that perhaps apples and oranges aren’t the most stable base for 30mL of hot, hard-to-remove, not to mention flaming wax, and the first time someone bumps the table and they start rolling all over the place, well there may be quite a bit of teeth gnashing and “Gee sorry about your shag pile rug”. But hey, they’ll look good for a while, and your friends are probably way less clumsy than mine. 7.99

P.S. I would almost buy this to make a watermelon candelabra, or perhaps it might do well for a pumpkin candelabra for Halloween? Or maybe I should stop writing and just post the darn thing. If you do buy one, please send us pics. Thanks.

The Candle Carver will do much more than just spruce up your perishables, though. You can scoop out enough matter to make a lovely vase, or even a floating candle-holder for a punch bowl. If it’s the sort of party that has punch, that is. Maybe you could even carve out enough to make a snazzy cocktail glass from a pineapple, go nuts! The possibilities are near-enough endless – if you can carve something out of it, chances are it’d look better with a tealight on top. Use apples, pears, squashes, mini pumpkins and just get twisting!
