Canon’s X Mark I Mouse boasts impressive calculating features

Just the other day I was working on my computer, doing important things, when I needed to do a quick calculation. I like to do simple math in my head when I can, but I was dealing with some large numbers, and it was crucial that I didn’t make any mistakes. Naturally, I did what any smart person would do, and started hunting around my office for a calculator. After a good while, I realized that of all my gadgets, I didn’t have a single calculator. Makes me wish I had this X Mark I Mouse from Canon.

Yes, the story above was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but the product is real. I have no idea why, but Canon apparently felt it necessary to build a calculator into a mouse. It isn’t even a scientific calculator, but rather just a plain old boring one. The only useful thing I can see here is that it can function as a number pad for your laptop, which likely doesn’t have one. At $60, there does appear to be a demand for it, as it is currently out of stock on the Canon site.

  • Windows has a calculator that's more powerful than this and lets you paste results into a document. I'm sure other operating systems do as well. This device is just silly.

  • What the.. a mouse with a calculator on it?
