All fancy modern cars seem to come with rear parking cameras nowadays, and they’re definitely a boon if, like me, you’re one of those who tends to reverse until they feel something go bump in the night. Of course occasionally the bump turns into something a bit more, well expensive, which is why it would be nice to have a way to retro-fit a device to help.
This Car Parking Camera For Smartphones lets you convert your Android or iOS tablet or smartphone into a rear camera setup, to make parking more like a breeze than a tornado. The kit achieves its magic by using a local WiFi network to transmit the image from the camera unit (which you screw into the rear number plate area) to the phone or tablet.
The result is a cool system that saves you craning your neck, or peering pathetically into a grubby mirror as you try and navigate between two Porsches and a milk truck in your local library car park. The kit comes with a free app for both platforms, and the camera is shockproof and waterproof and features night vision down to 0.5 lux (i.e. very dark). The whole thing is priced at $69.90.
Right this is annoying, How can you look at the rear view mirror, the side mirrors and the screen? I say we should re-invent the wing mirror and we’ll be millionaires this time next year.
