Parrot MK6100 Bluetooth Hands Free Kit – remote control car phone system combines style and safety

The Parrot MK6100 Bluetooth Hands Free Kit shows that a bit of ergonomic forethought can produce equipment that delivers genuine user value. The point is that taking hand and eye of the wheel for however long immediately increases the risk level of any hands free system – including those visor mounted things – so voice recognition and a handy wheel mounted RF remote control is definitely the best way to go. $299.99.  With its sober and elegant design, its high definition OLED screen,…

CPC Wristband – the World’s Best Hands Free Device…for free

The CPC Wristband is…ahem…a wristband. Stick the band around your wrist, slot the phone into the hole (they call it a pocket, but we know better don’t we readers?) and there you go. Hands free phone calls all day long. Who needs stinky old Bluetooth anyway, eh? Erm…this is either complete genius or just totally off the chart. For $25.99 we’re tending towards the latter, although there is a SPECIAL OFFER of a a free unit for a lucky 2000…

The BIC Phone – so is the mobile phone really a commodity now, Grandpa?

The clever French folk at Orange have just launched the BIC Phone which is a handset designed to shave you closer, write reliably and cheaply, make phone calls while on the move. It comes with an hour’s worth of calls pre-loaded, a charged up battery and the SIM in place. All you’ve got to do is tear off the packaging and start calling and texting. Oh and it’s got an FM radio in it too. I think. There appears to be some confusion also…

Hands on with the Nokia N82 – the next generation super phone

I’ve been playing with the Nokia N82 Symbian powered smartphone for the past few weeks, and I’ve got to say that this is a gorgeous piece of equipment all round. Regular readers will know I’m an unabashed Nokia fan, so the previous statement is probably no surprise, but even taking into account my obvious pathetic bias, this is quite a beast in many glorious ways.

Nav4All – cool free worldwide mobile phone GPS navigation software

Nav4All is a free GPS satellite navigation program for mobile phones. It’s available in 55 languages and with more than 100 different voices for the turn by turn instructions. The Java program is compatible with most handsets (over 1000 according to the site) and the maps are refreshed ‘almost daily’ for free. So what’s the catch? Well, for one thing it may only be free for the next two years or so. Or, more probably, there will be a free…

Bliin – location aware applications start to follow GPS phones onto the market

Bliin is a new location aware service which uses small Java downloads to your mobile phone and a Google Earth powered website to provide a sort of crazy quilt global community application. Why crazy? Well the interface is all over the place for one. And I’m still not completely sure what the whole thing is useful for. Once you install the BliinGPSXS Java module on your phone and register on the main site for an account, you’ll be able to…

MovaMail – mobile email done superbly

MovaMail. I can’t believe I haven’t already mentioned the MovaMail mobile phone email client here. I’ve been using it for a fair while now, and have raved about it in my newspaper column, so it’s weird. Anyhoo, here’s the redress. Number one, it’s a Java app, so it runs on just about every mobile phone out there. Two, it has a superb, easy to use interface. Uncluttered, clear and easy to read, even on very small screens. Three the account set up…

Text4Free – send free text and MMS messages from web to phone

Text4Free lets you send free SMS and MMS messages from the Web to any mobile phone. It’s international (although the MMS appears to be US only) and comes with a pretty simple interface (and *lots* of Adsense ads). You can send the message to multiple recipients as well, which is handy. There’s also a texting widget available for website owners to offer the free service to their visitors. All in all a very interesting service, although the most important part of the site must…
