New spray bottle is child-resistant

Researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s The Research Institute, in partnership with Ohio State University, have created a prototype spray bottle for household cleaning products that they say is child-resistant. Its two-stage trigger mechanism will discourage young children from using these spray bottles, mainly because they lack the developed ability to use them in the sequential order necessary. Also, young children’s hand size and strength simply aren’t capable of activating this. The trigger mechanism will return to a locked state after…

Karakuri Ribbon Scalp Stretcher pulls the wrinkles right off your face

Getting older is “inconvenient” as my grandfather put it. You don’t have quite as much pep in your step as you did when you were five, and your skin isn’t as firm as it was when you were twenty. Thankfully though, the beauty industry has been around for a long time, so they have all sorts of little tricks up their sleeve to lessen the effects of aging.

Eastpak Sofa makes your living room look spotless

When we lounge around the house, various items start to migrate to our little “nests”. The mainstay for most of us is the couch. This is the resting place for laptops, phones, books, cups, glasses, pens, and the list goes on and on. After a while your living room starts to look like a dragon’s horde. While it wasn’t intended to happen, things can get cluttered pretty quickly.

Double-sided solar cells could boost efficiency up to 50 percent!

Israeli start-up company b-Solar has created a double-sided photovoltaic that they say can boast energy yields up to 50 percent. Introduced at Intersolar Europe in Germany in June, these innovative bifacial solar cells utilize a black surface field of boron instead of traditional aluminum. This creates an open rear face where the cells can collect reflected and diffused sunlight and makes the front cell panels more efficient. The new cells deliver 10-30% higher energy (KWH) per KWp when installed in…

Point and Click Dictionary puts the power of knowledge in your hands

It’s happened to all of us at least once in the past. You’re reading a book that you really like, and BAM, you come across a word you’ve never seen in your life. Even though you want to take the time to look up the word, but the sentence structure around it makes enough sense that you just move on (and you’re at a really good part).

Chili Pad keeps you cool as a cucumber

Summer is great, because there’s so much you can do. Hiking, swimming, camping, you name it. Unfortunately, with summer comes the heart. There are plenty of ways to keep cool while you’re awake, but if you’re like me, your body turns into a small furnace when you go to sleep. Fans and central air can only do so much, but that only gets the area above your covers. Wouldn’t it be great if you could cool the mattress underneath…

Reflect Shower Head makes shaving in the shower a snap

While I can’t say I’ve had the pleasure of shaving my face in the shower (as I don’t have an extensive amount of facial hair), I’ve heard that this is a prime place for men to deal with this sort of grooming. However, it would be wise to have a sort of reflective surface to see what you’re doing with a razor so close to your face. A big issue would be condensation, as a steamy shower is definitely going…

The Suntracking Shelter will guard you from UV rays all day long

There are some days where you want to go and sit outside under a canopy for hours on end. Cool breezes and the warmth of summer make being outside a worthwhile excursion. However, if you’re wanting to keep away from the sun’s rays, you will note that over time you’ll have to readjust where you sit to keep in the shadows.

Tread Desk makes you walk while you work

Let’s face it, we spend way too much time sitting in front of our computers. Living a sedentary lifestyle is definitely not good for us, but if it’s your job to be in front of a computer, then there’s not a whole lot you can do about it. Taking a break is always nice, but if you really get into your work, you’ll likely forget to get up and move about until you’ve finished the workday.

Bringing desert salt and sun together to light up Las Vegas

SolarReserve, a Santa Monica-based company, has announced progress on its latest solar / molten salt project – the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project. This 110 MW solar thermal power plant is located near Tonopah, Nevada. The beauty of utilizing salt with solar energy is that it increases the amount of time that solar energy can be stored – up to 10 hours each day. This will make it the longest full-load storage capacity for a solar plant. The technology has…

The Electric Motorboat makes relaxing even easier

You have achieved the perfect date. Excellent food, fancy clothes, beautiful music playing in the background, and now you want to top it off with a boat ride. Instead of wowing your date with such a romantic display, you watch them go from bored to uninterested as you struggle to move the oars, and can’t seem to get the boat to go in the right direction.

MicroStylus is so tiny!

Thanks to games like DrawSomething, we now have a need for rather small styluses for our phones. The screen is already a bit too small to have an entire keyboard on it, but to draw a decent picture with the pad of you finger is just downright difficult. This is why an item like the MicroStylus might be useful.

HMDX Quad Alarm Clock will safeguard your room at night

Some of us have a bit of paranoia regarding burglars coming into the house at night. The thought of someone creeping into your room while you’re fast asleep is quite unsettling, and the only way to know if it’s happening or not is by filming your room at night. The only problem with that, is that most people nowadays know that a little red dot of light means that there is a recording device in their midst.

Acorn Slipper Socks mean no more taking your shoes off at the airport

If you are a seasoned traveler, you likely know that you will want to get to the airport bright and early to get through security. Putting all of your carry on items from big bags to bracelets into a bin is obnoxious, but the most annoying part of the whole process is having to take off your shoes. While most frequent flyers usually just wear slip on shoes, there are always better alternatives. You could always wear your slippers to…
