Cellit – sell stuff using camphone video

Cellit. Genius idea, although the implementation could be a little more…ahem…polished. Think YouTube meets Freevlog meets eBay and you’re getting the idea. The seller shoots a video of the thing they want to sell, buyer watches video and purchases. Unfortunately these early demo videos are pretty naff (guys it’s a video, so move the camera around the product a bit, eh?) and the interface is very ‘let’s get a cheap coder from Bulgaria to knock it up for us.’ But a superb idea nonetheless and one that deserves to develop.

Cell)))it makes it easy. Just take a picture or video and email the media to [email protected]. No advance account required. The sender receives an acknowledgement. An operator calls the cell-phone and helps complete the listing. The operator will add title, description, tags, brand, model, and other information. The operator will help set up an account while on the phone and take credit card information to collect the listing fee.

  • Sharp mind … sharp tongue. We appreciate the compliment and will take the tongue lashing. When something looks elegantly simple a lot of hard work made it possible. We worked very hard and recognize elegant simplicity is still ahead of us. Cell-it wants to make cell phones and video capture work. So, it’s back to work for us. Steve

  • Nah, sorry guys, didn’t mean to be so snarky. Just trying to say that the UI looks a bit dated (bit eBay really, which is still a mess!) in this day and age of rounded corners. :-) Like I said it deserves to get some traction, because the idea is great. I’d start off by simplifying the front page to make it a no-brainer as to how to get started….

    Hey, that’s just my .2c. :-)
