Climate Change for Children – be honest but stay positive

The issues surrounding climate change are really frightening and it’s important that we talk to our children about it. But when we do so, we shouldn’t make it all gloom and doom. Talking to children about climate change should be a positive, hopeful discussion.

Doctors suggest that introducing your children to nature and helping them cultivate a love and respect for it would go a long way in getting them on the right side of the climate discussion. After all, protecting something you care about is far easier than an protecting something in the abstract. Children have an easier time understanding things when you relate them to their experiences.

The important thing is really to just remain honest but hopeful. Yest pollution is a problem but we can still clean it up. Yes the planet is getting warmer but we can help turn back those tides. And who knows, maybe you need to hear it from a positive place too.
