Climate change isn’t just about drought and rising sea levels. Food shortages and unbearable heat. The crisis has a real cost on our physical health and we’re already starting to see the effects of it. Many common conditions are being exasperated by the effects of climate change.
Things like asthma and seasonal allergies are being made far worse by climate change than they have been historically. Although this may sound small, complications from this everyday conditions can cause death in some populations. There are also issues with pregnancy and newborns, which include a rise in preterm birth rates and still birth.
The elderly and very young are susceptible to these issues more than any other other population. The problems are caused by unclean air, rises temperatures, and lack of resources caused directly by the climate issues. Which is to say, the time to act is now, we’re already suffering from this crisis.
