CookieSwap – free Firefox extension makes it easy to manage multiple online email accounts

CoolieSwap is a very cool free Firefox extension which makes it super simple to switch between email accounts on providers like Gmail, Yahoo! and the like. It works by swapping out cookies (duh!) when you click on a different profile.

Why is it useful? Because it saves you having to laboriously log out and log in again to access a different account in your webmail service. This can save a load of time if you do a lot of hopping around among different online webmail accounts during your day. It’s also a cool way of managing multiple people’s accounts on one computer, although that’s a bit of a security nightmare unless you’re a trusting soul.

I also like the idea you can use it to test out how sites see you with different profiles. Amazon and Google search are two services which definitely treat you differently depending on what cookies they see on your hard disk. A lovely little tool, and one which will save me having to open multiple browsers.

The only other thing I’d like is the ability to identify and save profiles permanently so I could use it as a general cookie account changer across a *lot* of different sites and services. Definitely a keeper.

CookieSwap is an extension that enables you to maintain numerous sets or ‘profiles’ of cookies that you can quickly swap between while browsing.
