Credit Card Waste – plastic cards are a hidden waste in our world

What do you do with your old credit cards? How about gift cards? Most people end up chopping credit cards to little bits and gift cards, once empty, just go in the trash. But is that really the best place for that plastic? Turns out that our debit, credit, and gift cards aren’t recyclable and that’s not good for the long term.

In the short term, we need these cards to be fairly sturdy and they are for the most part. They’re made from PVC and in most cases can last for the lifetime of the card. When they end up in the trash though, they could potentially end up causing more harm to the environment as they break down. Unfortunately, there’s no easy solution to the problem. We need our banking cards, after all.

One thing to do is petition for banks and other card manufactures to use different materials. Another solution is to be more mindful of what you do with your old cards and try to find some safe and secure methods of reusing them in other ways. Check out he link for more information.
