CycoCycle – Is it a unicycle with training wheels or a tricycle without handlebars?

CycoCycle

If you’re looking for something a little different than a standard bicycle to have some fun with, it might be time to go a little ‘cyco.’

Nope! That’s not a typo; it’s just our cute way to introduce the CycoCycle, although you might feel like you’ve gone psycho when you first consider going for a spin on this wild ride.

The unique design might initially make you think someone stole the handlebars from a poor tricycle, but then you’ll notice the seat is actually over the main wheel instead of behind it. The reason for this is to place the rider’s balance precisely over all three wheels because it’s all about balance when it comes to controlling this insane-looking ride.

And when it comes to riding, there are a variety of ways to tame the bright yellow beast. You can either sit on the seat, stand on the rear platform to ride the cycle like a scooter, or let a friend enjoy the fun with you, with one person on the seat and another on the platform. More unicycle than bicycle, one of the things you can’t do is glide because the pedals are connected directly to the wheel, meaning the wheel stops turning as soon as you stop peddling.

If limited space had you believing your cycling days were behind you because you don’t have room for a bicycle, you’ll be happy to know the CycoCycle folds down so it can easily be stored in the trunk of a car or even under the bed.

CycoCycle Folded

Although it’s super-portable, it’s still tough enough to take on almost any riding surface, including pavement, gravel, dirt, grass, and even snow.

You can get your hands on one for $119.24 at Amazon.com.

  • Looks like fun! I’m thinking that it could be used as a seat in the office, for the desk jockey. Don’t get up! Just pedal! Human-powered Segue? With a seat?
