Dear Ingo is a chandelier made from desk lamps

One of my favorite lights in my house is my trusty desk lamp. It’s the sort that clamps onto the desk, and is on an adjustable arm. It’s good for giving me light exactly where I need it, and can even be useful when doing a bit of photography in a pinch. So with one such lamp being good, what if you had sixteen of them organized into a chandelier?

Honestly, I think this Dear Ingo chandelier is one of the more interesting lighting pieces I’ve seen in a little while. Mostly because when broken down, it’s a very ordinary lamp. Plus you have the versatility of moving each light in almost any direction. You can have them neat and orderly or chaotically placed, depending on your mood. What I don’t approve of is the $3,500 price tag. I can get similar lamps for around 20 bucks a pop, and make my own for a fraction of the price.

  • of COURSE you can make your own lamp but:

1] it will never be a creation from your imagination, and

2] your lamp will never be an original Ingo Maurer work of art

  • Even if you got the otiginal, you wouldn't have an original Ingo Mauer work of art. The chandelier is designed by Ron Gilad for Mooi.

If you are going to get snarky, at least get yout facts straight.
