The BBC has just done an interesting little report on the potential collapse of the DVD regional coding system (you know, Region 1, 2, 3 etc).

Forced on a reluctant world (i.e. consumers and manufacturers) by a paranoid movie industry, the system is now in a stage of total disarray following the almost universal availability of multi-region capable DVD video players.
