Dipiti. On the face of it this beta level search engine is just another forum search tool, like Omgili or Twing, but unlike these two this new service makes no attempt to be all things to all men. That’s because Dipiti is catering specifically for some tightly defined vertical search sectors like Health, Legal, Money and rather strangely Pet Care. The result is that the search results should be significantly better than the generic results from Google and the others.
The company claims to be covering over 2600 communities and 40 million conversations, but who’s counting? And when I tried the health search, it seemed to deliver a good set of results on the subject matter. More to the point, the service comes with some nice additional touches, namely the ratings system which gives you pre-warning of the quality of the results, the instant reviews and cool integrated tools like the book shop.
Regular Ferret readers will know that I like vertical market value-add, and this puppy seems to have it in spades. Definitely one to watch!
