‘Dear Ferret, I love the site, but as a Yank, have been occasionally confused by the odd Britishism: recent examples including “boffin” “naff” and “taking the mickey.” You might recommend that your similarly bollixed readers reference http://harmsy.freeuk.com/mwpcf/dictionarybottom.htm, which showed me that the preceding mean “intelligent person,” “terrible,” and “to tease.”
