DoubleTwist – cool way to share, convert and sync your multimedia between devices and the web

DoubleTwist. Heh, DVD Jon is back, and he’s carrying more gifts. This new service is a neat freeware desktop application which you can use to convert, share and manage all of your disparate digital media stuff. You do have disparate digital media stuff, right? Ah good.

OK, so the clever thing is the sync between an online storage space of your own, and the desktop app which is the control panel. There’s also a cool conversion system in the background which automatically converts your media into the right format for different devices, so you can move your videos from your PSP to your iPhone without missing a beat and stuff like that.

To make it all really worthwhile though, you need friends. Which kind of rules me out of the game entirely. Anyhoo, if you’re a Facebook loving, friend gathering, iTunes using, media sharing mogul, then this is the perfects for you. Really. Me, I’ll stick to watching my Sony Betamax tapes.

What happens when I liberate my iTunes music purchases? doubleTwist can automatically convert music you have purchased from the iTunes store to MP3, a universal format supported by all devices that play digital music. doubleTwist does not delete or move the original files. You can only convert files that you have legally purchased and are authorized to play with iTunes. What devices do you support? doubleTwist desktop enables you to sync iTunes playlists with your Nokia N Series phones, Sony Ericsson Walkman & Cybershot phones, LG Viewty phones, phones using the Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 platform (e.g. Treo, HTC, Palm), the Sony PSP, and the Amazon Kindle. You can also share media files directly from your device with your friends when you connect it via USB.

  • Unfortunately, it just caused my PC to reboot every time I clicked the Sync button…

  • Fantastic!! This is just what I need. I’ve been using Super to re-encode video and that interface is almost unintelligible. And this one does music too!

This looks like it might be just what I need. Thanks Red!
