Philips and Verbatim have announced a new dual layer DVD format which raises the capacity of a DVD from 4.7 GB to 8.5 GB while retaining backward compatibility with existing players. The new DVD +R technology will give 4 hours of video recording on a disc, which is more than enough for those Bilko re-runs.
