Do you have an old cellphone lying around with no intention of being used again? Well, you might be able to make a few dollars from that device with this latest recycling method for mobile phones known as Eco ATMs.
Here’s the thing, Eco ATMs are not exactly new, but it’s the first time the kiosks have made their way to Florida. How it works is quite impressive, to the say the least, and we can’t wait to see similar kiosks popping up in other parts of the world.
When you visit an Eco ATM machine, the program will request the type of phone, the carrier it’s on, and the overall condition of the device. The kiosk should provide a sticker for placing on the device, then a door opens which will prompt the user to connect a cable to the phone which it uses to analyze the phone and then you get your money. Easy peasy.
Most people return their phone to the carrier but for people using phones without plans or those who just buy out right, this could be a good way to make some money back and help the environment since the this keeps old tech out of landfills for just a little while longer.
