Remember the days when computer generated graphics were all like, OK, but you could still tell they were fake? Remember? Well not any more peeps. Say hello to Ed, the latest and greatest example of why movies will one day only feature computer generated actors.
The head, and the rest of the upcoming body, are all the work of genius Australian designer Chris Jones, who uses nothing more exotic than some conventional CGI software and a fancy soundtrack. Check the video below to see Ed in action. We’ll wait here.
Amazing, huh? Gone are the artifacts, the weirdly fake expressions and the blocky eyeballs. This guy is about as real as you can get, without being weird at all. Amazing. It’s a work in progress as Chris says, so we should expect improvements as the project develops. And we have a feeling the end result will end up in some kind of animated short movie, which could be awesome. [Via]
