Edge Robotic Arm Kit – build that gleaming android, one piece at a time

Edgeroboticarmkit

I’ve never really understood this fascination with robotic arms, and this Edge Robotic Arm Kit doesn’t help. Why arms? Why not, say, legs? Or Robotic Torsos? Or Robotic Kneecaps? Doesn’t make sense. Sure, I know you can shake hands with the thing, and get it to mash peas and stuff, but still. Just a teeny bit creepy if you ask me. Which you didn’t. $49.99.

Five axes of robotic movement are at your command with the wired remote. Command the gripper to open and close, wrist motion of 120 degrees, an extensive elbow range of 300 degrees, base rotation of 270 degrees, base motion of 180 degrees, vertical reach of 15 inches, horizontal reach of 12.6 inches, and lifting capacity of 100g. whew! An LED spotlight on the gripper illuminates your work. Soon you’ll be creating your own tiny union-free automobile assembly line.

  • "I’ve never really understood this fascination with robotic arms"

Because it's the gateway drug to 5-18 axis industrial robots, which can do things like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjMJOfCyDaA

    • Wow, cool video indeed Golux, seconded!

  • Me, I just like making something happen over there from over here: it's therapeutic.
Great vid Golux. Mind you, I am in even more in awe now of the mind and skill… and patience of man that such a thing could… can be created with no more than a mental image, a hammer and chisel.
