Eton Dynamo Disaster Radio – be prepared for absolutely anything

dynamodisasterradio

You can never be too prepared. No really. Like those times when you left the house without your shoes, and you had to walk. Or the day you left your pepper spray behind and got attacked by squirrels. Big ones. It happens all the time, which is why those insurance guys are so happy and fat looking. But you have choices you know.

For instance you could invest in one of these here Eton Dynamo Disaster Radios. Not only does it have a blockbuster movie type name, but it looks the part too. In fact, let’s just sit here a while and admire the design. Chunky without being too ugly, colorful in an ‘emergency’ sort of way and with just enough chrome and levers to let you know he’s a serious piece of kit. Feel safer already, don’t you?

So what does it do?

Well it features crank and solar charging in case your power goes out day or night, a ‘bright‘ LED flashlight (phew, glad it’s bright), a red strobe lamp, internal battery pack and integrated USB ports to recharge your phones and what-not, and last but not least an AM/FM and NOAA weather band radio so you can stay in touch with your local happenings as they break.

Just so you know, two minutes hand cranking delivers 1 minute of talk time, so you’d better talk fast or work out some more. Runs off 3 AAA batteries when not solar powered, and costs $59.95.
