EyeAlert helps you stay connected with your Bluetooth phone or gadget

There are four million mobile phones left in taxis each and every day by forgetful people. OK, so we’re probably exaggerating a touch, but it’s a huge number in any case, and we bet that every one of those good folk said ‘it’ll never happen to me’. The fact is that we do forget things all the time, and it can be massively annoying and disruptive.

The EyeAlert is a small monitoring gadget that attaches to your keychain and connects to your phone or other gadget via Bluetooth. If you move further away from your device than your pre-set limit (say 2 meters or something), the system emits a loud alert so you wake up and run back to retrieve said gizmo.

The unit works with just about any standard Bluetooth enabled phone, tablet or PDA and is powered by a rechargeable battery which stays alive for 7 days per charge. The one problem we can see is if you forget to charge it, after coming to rely on it for your bad memory. Nasty! Anyhoo, it’s priced at $34.45.

  • Problem #2: is for those poor taxi and bus drivers with all those eyelerts that people leave behind and then start beeping as the passenger walks out of range with his/her bluetooth equipment carefully tucked away in a pocket.

  • I an intrigued by this one. Most of the ones I have seen or worse bought are utterly useless garbage. you have to go an INSANE distance away before it finally decides to say hey yeah the phone thats long gone? yep its long gone don't even bother going to look for it. 5 meters is over 16 ft away. yeah go try flagging down the cab that is already doing 20mph and not looking back who GETS CASH for turning in your phone. he aint stopping.

anything over 2-3 feet is garbage. I have yet to find anything that actually alerts me at that distance or anything CLOSE to that short a distance.

anyone have video of this eyelert working? also does it make the "PHONE" emit sound as well? if not this won't help if I can't "SEE" the phone. I need the phone itself to go nuts too.
