Fairshare Music – download music legally and help some charities too

Fairsharemusic

Fairshare Music is designed to make you feel good about your listening. You buy music tracks or albums, they donate half their net profit to a charity of your choice. The site is laid out well, and the choice is good (8.5 million tracks), but really are people that concerned about mixing philanthropy with their pet sounds? Time will tell.

You can audition tracks and downloads are MP3 at 320 kbps, but surprisingly there’s very little in the way of artist information or other material to fill out the album page. Sparse. I guess the developers feel that people will be there just to buy, not to browse too much.

In that respect they’re also probably hoping for a future as a replacement for your conventional music buying channel, except there’s also no way to synch your downloads with iTunes or  mobile players etc. Still, it’s an interesting service which may encourage more ‘feelgood downloading’ as they call it.

At fairsharemusic we do good things with great music. We’re a different kind of download site, where the music you buy really does make a difference. Just like every other music download site, we offer loads of great music, over 8.5 million tracks including the hottest new releases costing from just 79p. The crucial difference is that for every track you download from fairsharemusic, we donate half the profit to your chosen charity. And on top of that, the more you download, the more we donate.

  • This service work great on my iTunes and mobile!
I've been using this service since it launched and I can sync all my downloads with iTunes without any problems. So I'm not sure why they say you can't because you can.
