FaveBot – stop searching, start discovering

Favebot

FaveBot is a persistent search engine. Enter in your search terms, select which media you wish to search (e.g. blogs, images, news etc) and it will return a constantly updating list of references to your phrase or word. It’s cool for a couple of reasons. First, it works. I’ve used it and it really does pick up some interesting results.

For example I entered in the words ‘William Blake’, and blow me down if it didn’t find my mate’s upcoming production of William Blake’s Divine Humanity in London’s New Players Theatre. Impressed were I. Second, it’s the first real Hobo app in the wild. Which is uber neat. It’s still a bit rough round the edges in places and the UI could do with a tidy up, but hey, it works and is quite useful. What it really needs now though is a nice RSS feed of the results and it’ll be fabbo. Nice one Michael.

FaveBot enables you to CONTINUOUSLY discover new content and/or events matching your interests. Simply, sign up and create a list of the things you want to track and the type(s) of content for each item in your list. FaveBot will scour the web, day after day, discovering new content matching your interests.

  • Thanks for the plug Red. The UI will get a redesign in the near future. Design isn’t my thing, so I’ll be hunting for a good designer. I’m also open to any suggestions you may have. I’d like to make it closer to an email client or a typical newsreader.

Also, the RSS feeds should be available soon. I just want to nail down a few more things before I start publishing feeds.
