Feedbeep. RSS alerts sent to any mobile phone via SMS. Kind of neat application if you need to keep up to date with web information continually.

Actually I’m looking for a cool, well priced global SMS alert service for a project (so that people can subscribe to get SMS alerts if a web page changes), so if anyone knows of one do drop me a line or comment here.

FeedBeep is the final link between you and the wealth of information published on the internet. Hundreds of thousands of data feeds are available in RSS format, and now you can receive alerts about events worldwide — as they happen — right on your SMS-capable phone. Alerts can be set to go to your mobile device or our web messaging system based on your keywords or any time new information is posted to a feed.

  • You *could* use the following mashup that I use for file server monitoring, although in your case it may not be exactly what you’re looking for and probably less professional. For example, sign up for Netikus’ free URL Watch, and for the notification email address, use Teleflip’s Free SMS Service and presto, an SMS message on your cell when a site changes. I’ve been using Netikus’ service for a couple of years now with no spam and it’s very dependable. The only real obstacle is the free cost. :)

  • I never seem to figure out how to use those tags…. :( too bad I can’t edit my comments.

  • Heh, no problem Peter, it’s all part of the Ferret service. :-) Thanks for the tips, I’ll check them out. I have a feeling that Teleflip is US only though, which is a bit of a shame.
