Ever played 20 questions? Fun isn’t it? Well just recently I came across a site called Filmillion, which is an online version of that game focused on movies. Basically, the website requires that you answer 30 questions to help guess the movie you’re thinking about, and would you believe that it actually works? I kid you not.
The site/game asks you questions such as…is the movie a blockbuster, the acting quality, who starred in the movie and so on. All you have to do is is press Yes or No, then sit back and watch the magic happen right before your very eyes. Now, going into this I was very skeptical about the outcome since there is no way a mere website could read my mind. In the end, I was up in arms screaming “what sorcery is this?”
The first movie I had on my mind was Titanic, which is the exact same movie Filmillion suggested at the end of the 30 questions.
It’s a silly thing that will probably become boring after a while, but hey, it’s a cool way to impress your friends and family, and it’s also a good method of occupying some spare time. The site doesn’t always get it right of course, but even so it’s pretty impressive anyway.
Just try 2001: A Space Odyssey.
I stumped it with Judge Dredd
It couldn’t guess The Conversation
Didn’t get Zulu for me. It’s all about the database I guess.
