So the Japanese have launched a navigation system for pedestrians called EZ Navi Walk. It uses GPS enabled mobile phones to supply maps and voice prompts giving directions as needed. New mobile phone killer ap?

I just experienced the Avis car hire navigation system based around a Sprint GPS enabled phone in the US. Plonk the phone on the windscreen, dial in to log your destination with the live operator and the system will guide you with a voice navigation system through the hands free loudspeaker on the phone. It worked. I was amazed.
