Five alternatives to the now defunct AllofMP3 music site – deja vu Napster

So the infamous Russian AllofMP3 has finally been shut down, eh? But guess what, alternative sites have already sprung up to satisfy your insatiable lust for dirt cheap popular music album downloads. So what does this Pyrrhic RIAA victory remind you of? Hint: The word begins with N for…Nap****.

So here are a few of the early contenders to take the cheap Russian music downloads crown. Please understand that we make no claims or comment on the legality, trustworthiness or otherwise of any of these sites. Caveat very much emptor, good peeps (if you want totally legal music downloads, try out our own Red Ferret 1 Million Free and Legal Music Tracks Wiki).

  • MP3Sparks. Appears to be run by the same team behind AllofMP3. They’ve just moved address see? Huge catalogue, cheap prices.
  • Simpler interface, large catalogue, credit card payment terms. In other words typical of the genre.
  • LegalSounds. Bold name, professional design, $0.09 per song. 50 free songs given for first payment.
  • MP3Fiesta. 743,699 tracks, previews, charts, low prices. Spotting a trend here?
  • Alltunes. Russian, $1.99 an album, 776, 861 tracks, free samples available.

  • appears short-lived. The site is down.

  • MP3Sparks and AllTunes are both owned by the same company that owns AllOfMP3, and will meet the same fate if they have not already.

    Independence day, my ass.

  • also has free downloads and mp3’s for sale at 50c each. Profits are 1/3 each for artist, sellaband and ‘believers’. Can’t get fairer than that :)
