If you’re a driver who constantly plays tag with the parking wardens on your beat, you’ll probably appreciate any tool which promises to help your life go easier. Which is clearly what the developers behind Fixed, a new smartphone app which offers to help ‘people beat unjust parking tickets‘.
The project seems to be in early adopter mode at the moment, hidden behind an email application process which puts you on a wait list for some reason, however the company is still busy looking for legal researchers to join their team. The fact that these folk have to know the parking codes and have a proven record in beating tickets suggests that this is a service that’s not going to scale in the long term.
The idea is you take a photo of your ‘unjust’ parking ticket, send it off to the company and they do the legwork challenging the thing. If they win, they charge you 25% of the fine you would have paid. Sounds good right?
These sorts of things have been around for a while across the world (check out appealnow.com in the UK), but they typically don’t do that well for people, simply because parking tickets are now pretty strictly regulated with the use of cameras etc. But hey, can’t blame people for trying, eh?
