Flare Pans – designed by rocket scientists to cook food better, faster and much more eco friendly

Flare Pan Cooking

I love food, so anything that makes my kitchen work better is aces in my book. The Flare Pan was designed by a team of rocket scientists to cook food more efficiently – i.e. better and faster – than conventional cookware. It took three years to perfect, and has won awards for innovation and energy conservation.

Most people will advise you to purchase good cookware if you’re aiming to make good food, and while it’s easy to laugh, there is definitely a lot of science that goes into cooking. Which is what Dr Thomas Povey – a real life rocket scientist from Oxford University – used to create this new, better range of cookware utensils.

The pans look like normal units, except for the obvious ridged sides. This little change may not seem like much, but apparently it actually redirects heat that is usually lost, back into making the pans cook more effectively along the sides and on the bottom. This FIN-X technology distributes the heat so effectively that these pans can cook up to 44% faster than conventional ones. And anything that gets food to cook faster without being burnt on the outside and raw inside is OK by me.

It also is a more eco-friendly option. Since the pans utilize more of the heat that’s being used, you end up using less energy to prepare the same amount of food. In fact the pans use up to 40% less gas than your typical kitchen pan, so it saves money too. The pans are cast aluminum and non-stick coated. A set of three Flare Pans costs £149.99.
