There’s one very strange thing about general MP3 music player apps for phones. They tend to only give you the option to play your music collection by genres, or artists or other similar functions. Only on some of the more sophisticated (and costly) players do you get to listen to your collection by folder. And yet a lot of us store our music by folder, rather than any other method.
Folder Player is a free Android app which lets you play individual files of course, but also lets you access your music collection via folders and folder trees. It’s a great way to easily access larger collections, where ID3 tags and genres are not enough. For instance, you need your mood folders, or memory folders etc.
The app also supports random or sequential play, has search and integrates with Last.fm via Scrobbler for those of you into that stuff. It will pause the music when a call comes in, and has an equalizer for tweaking your sound. All in all a pretty nice set of features for a free player. Supports MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC and WMA. Cool.
