Regular readers will know we really like Freemake, primarily because they produce excellent free software without any of the nasty malware or advertising nasties on so many other products. They focus on good quality media programs, and their latest is great.
Freemake Free YouTube to MP3 Boom is a free program which does what it says on the tin. It download and converts YouTube videos to simple MP3 audio files in high resolution. The interface is refreshingly simple and pleasing to the eye, which means there’s no brain power involved in getting things done.
You get options to audition and download the track in question, as well as a handy download meter when it’s running. It’s fast though, so unless you’re downloading a huge audio of a Macbeth play, you’re probably not going to spend much time watching the clock… seconds at most.
The options are basic as well, just where to download and the language, but it’s enough. The program also retains a history of past downloads, just in case you feel the need to revisit. We like this a lot. Simple, fast and very effective. Awesome.
you do know that f.i. Freemake Video Downloader is containing spyware and browser hijacker?
Hi Eddie,
This is the response I’ve had from the Freemake people.
” If you look at VirusTotal report, you’ll see status
like Riskware/OpenCandy or TROJ_GEN.F47V0522 after exe check. Such
warning is usually caused by OpenCandy offers that are available in
Freemake software installers. Upon installation of Freemake software you
can decide whether accept or decline OpenCandy offers if you don’t
trust OpenCandy. Learn more about security at OpenCandy FAQ. Please recommend to your readers downloading Freemake software from our site http://www.freemake.com.
If you get ESET NOD32 Win32/OpenCandy alerts upon installation of Freemake software, please read ESET official help guide.
If you get Trend Micro TROJ_GEN.F47V0522 alert upon installation of
Freemake software, please check this info. Trend Micro attaches generic
detections (Trojan, for example) using a heuristic pattern that is
capable of detecting multiple variants of the same family of malware.
The heuristic pattern can supplement the existing virus pattern file by
detecting unknown variants of malware. Learn more at Trend Micro generic detections official help guide. Such approach to detection helps Trend Micro detect new malware, but results in possible false positives.”
