Ga.Me – next generation browser games look beautiful and play well too

game

Regular readers will know that we’ve been tracking the rise and rise of browser based gaming for a while now, if only because there are amazing things happening in the space. The latest iteration of the genre has actually come from a company which has been around for a while, but we think they may be on to something cool.

Ga.Me is a new browser gaming site which is a showcase for an HTML5 game engine called Turbulenz. The company originally set out to deliver straight FPS type games for the browser, but now appears to have diverged into more pop type games, with a range of really cool titles which feature gorgeous colorful 3D graphics.

We’ve been trying out a few of the titles, including a very cute helicopter rescue game called Save the Day and we’re kind of hooked. There’s lots of the usual in-game purchasing stuff going on of course, someone’s got to pay for the servers, right? But the games seem to be fun and well designed, which is a great start.

The big question is, will these games be enough to help HTML5 browser gaming take off where Flash games have stopped, but only time will tell.
