Genpets

GenPets. Oh yes, they might be a hoax right now, but how long children, how long?

That’s right, Genpets are not toys or robots. They are living, breathing genetic animals. We use a process called “Zygote Micro Injection” which is quickly becoming a favourable method to combine DNA, or to insert certain proteins from different species. Most notably it was used in 1997 to splice mice with bioluminescent jellyfish (link) and has since been used to create glowing rabbits, pigs, fish, and monkeys…

  • is this for real?
    kinda creepy, kinda cool…
i’m still on the fence with this one.

  • Gosh, there’s nothing like your very own pet foetus!
Me thinks they’ll need to work on their marketing a bit more.

  • This is probably a marketing gimick for a new scifi movie.

Would be awesome if this were real! :)

  • This is not a hoax, but an art project by Adam Bandejs: http://www.brandejs.ca/. You can still buy your own GenPet from him though.. $1200 for a moving version, $800 for a non-moving.. both guaranteed to scare your mother.

  • Check the link: http://www.brandejs.ca/portfolio5/gp01.php
This is an artsy attempt to make a statement about humanity’s casual attitude towards genetics and life in general. The artist’s site listed above shows the actual “creatures” being cast from plastic using molds.

  • this is unbelieveable this is crazy and i think it is not real if so it would be broad casted or the US…
