Glucose Monitoring Patch – diabetics could so bye bye prick and hello patch

Diabetes used to be a death sentence but we’ve made great strides in medicine allowing people with this chronic illness to live long, fulfilling lives. That being said, the finger prick blood test is still painful and annoying. Scientists from the University of Bath may have found a painless solution, with a patch.

These smart patches will be able to draw glucose to test from the fluid between the cells, across the hair follicles. Obviously, these sensors are very, very small and they only collect a very tiny bit of fluid to test. But it can do it completely noninvasively and repeat the test every fifteen minutes or so throughout the day.

This would be amazing for people who are having trouble keeping their blood sugar numbers tracked and alert them to issues as they arise, not only when they become major health problems. Although this technology is still in its development stage, something like this can be revolutionary for people living with the illness. Check the link above for more information.
