When I was a kid, the only thing you needed to worry about with coloring was staying in the lines, and trying not to eat the crayons. In our modern world, kids don’t need to worry about not having enough of their favorite color or making a mark you can’t erase because it’s all moving to a digital platform. Looks like Crayola has jumped on the hi-tech train, as they’ve created a coloring experience where kids don’t even need to touch on a surface to draw.

The Griffin Crayola Light Marker works in tandem with your iPad, and will let kids draw in the air. Using a free app, kids will be able to play games and draw with a LightMarker that sends an invisible beam of light into the tablet’s sensor. They’ll cost $30, but of course, you have to have the iPad for it to do anything. While I don’t think kids having access to technology at an early age is a bad thing, getting rid of crayons altogether makes me a bit sad.
