Gro-hush – soothe your baby with the gentle sound of nature

There’s nothing guaranteed to upset new parents more than the sound of their crying baby, it’s biologically implanted in the genes. That sound of course can mean anything, from a diaper rash to hunger, so in the early days it’s all about trial and error until you can get things calmed down. But sometimes the crying is just discomfort, which is difficult to cure, unless you have a secret weapon.

The Gro-hush is a portable soothing noise generator (aka baby calmer!) which is designed to help calm baby down using just the gentle sounds of nature. The unit runs off 3 AAA batteries, and comes with a handy carrying case. It’s small enough to fit into a bag or pocket, and importantly the audio level is fixed at a safe level so as to protect your baby’s delicate ears.

There’s a choice of sounds you can select, including a heart beat, ocean waves or gentle rain on a tin roof, the last of which could lead to some serious confusion when baby grows up and associates tin roofs in thunderstorms with something nice. We’re actually not sure why just singing to your little one wouldn’t be more effective, but hey, it’s your baby and your $75.38.

  • May just be a redneck thing but I’ve always heard of just using a ticking clock. Works for babies and puppies. I think it suppose to mimic Mom’s heartbeat. I do know that it works for a whimpering puppy. LOL
