There are a lot of celebrity products out there. Perfumes, razors, knitting supplies. You name it and you can probably find a famous person with their picture on it. But the Tom Hanks endorsed app takes the cake for strange. Hanx Writer is the app that turns your iOS device into a typewriter.
Who doesn’t love a typewriter? We know at least Tom Hanks does. In fact he’s a fool for vintage typewriters and wanted desperately to share his love for an outdated piece of technology by making a digital version. The Hanx Writer was designed to mimic a typewriter right down to the last imperfect typeface.
It’s basically a word processor but it has that extra little bit that helps cast the illusion of using an actual typewriter. Sure the keys aren’t real. They don’t have that tactile feel to them but the device does vibrate and make the familiar sounds that we all know and love. Ta-ding! So if you love typewriters but can’t afford the Qwerkywriter, this might be a nice alternative way to scratch the vintage itch. Hanx Writer is free in the App Store.
