Heli Video – high def low cost aerial video photography, disruptive…much?

Wanna disrupt conventional commercial videography big time? Then grab yourself a radio controlled mini size helicopter, modify it to accept a Canon 5d or 7D DSLR, and market yourself as Heli Video, aerial video masters. The footage is in beautiful high definition and the results cost a fraction of hiring a full size helicopter, using a ladder or dolly and all that other stuff. Check out the promo video. [Via]

Heli Video Productions offer clients stunning aerial shots achieved in a clean, quiet, flexible way. Our aerial technology makes once prohibitively expensive shots attainable. • Myself, I wouldn't go with a DLSR. Sure, the video looks beautiful, but you only get 7 minutes of it. Plus no continuous auto focus. You'd be better off with a dedicated camcorder. There are plenty of similarly priced camcorders in the 5D/7D price range, that can shoot some great video.
