Honda U3-X – more videos showing off awesome new miracle transporter

The astounding new Honda U3–X Personal Mobility Unicycle is getting some real buzz around the world right now, and well deserved too. These guys have managed to cram a Segway type transportation device into something backpack sized, with enough battery power to run for an hour and propel you along at something between 5 and 10 km/h. And all based around some super clever Asimo robot balancing technology. Miraculous indeed.

Of course it’s all concept/prototype talk right now, but on a scale of 1 to 10 on the ‘gotta have a play with this’ chart, this puppy must rank 11. A bunch of new videos have emerged to showcase more details (nope it’s not just for slim short guys or gals) and demonstrate possible uses for the future. We particularly love the idea that you can embed one of these into a car door for that uber convenient ‘last mile’ experience.

Here’s our pick of the latest videos showing off the technology (click on thumbnail to watch). Enjoy!

Four minutes of slalom action from a bunch of tremulous journalists.

Watch a wizard at work. Ooh and see how the creature trembles at the approach of its master.

How the amazing wheel mechanism works.

Another master shows off. Check the drifting..!

Gizmag puts it all into context.

  • That's jaw dropping…

My next question is how it does with dirt/mud/rain/guck in the two direction wheel…

But however it does, I'm definately going to get one when they come out. The eye level with other pedestrians is definately a big plus.

    • Oh good point K, never thought of the dirt aspect. Neat box though, eh? :)
