Wow, it looks as though the Hop-On disposable phone may really be coming to the market in force soon, since it has just been reported that Intel has agreed to supply chips for the new model. Are these things really going to be viable, I ask? As yet I have not seen any in use, but since they’re predominantly for the US market that might not be so surprising.
Each phone holds 60 minutes of prepaid call time and can make and receive calls using an earpiece and mic hands-free setup. The new models also let you top up the time via prepaid vouchers, which makes them seem less like disposable and more like a cheapo mobile handset for those who don’t need to pose down their club.
