How Animals See The World

We have to confess to being fascinated by science, and especially that part which deals with the biology of species. Which makes this How Animals See The World article really interesting. Of course it’s all a total fantasy, rather like an alien trying to work out how we humans see by counting the megapixels on our cameras, but it’s still a valid piece of guesswork even so.

One of the amazing things about animal vision (and maybe senses in general?) is the fact that they use so many different parts of the visible and invisible spectrum as part of their vision. But what we’re likely to never know is how their brain processes the information they take in, which is where the real excitement lies.

What exactly *does* a dog do with all that incredibly sensitive smelly data it takes in every day? And what on earth do they get out of sniffing other dog’s backsides all the time?
