Phew! You know that things are changing when you find Wal*Mart selling 800MHz PCs with 128 MB RAM, 10 GB hard drives and an Ethernet port for – gasp – $199.86. Note the .86 cents! I suppose at these prices every penny helps the margin.

The trick apparently is to offer it without a monitor and with Lindows (the Linux o/s) rather than Microsoft’s Windows XP. But whatever, man that’s CHEAP! [thanks Bob]

Update: And just received this spam mail detailing a budget UK PC – including monitor – for £299.00 + VAT. What’s going on here?
