How to cure those annoying audio sync problems after editing smartphone video [Freeware]

audiosync

If you’ve ever tried to edit and upload smartphone video to YouTube, you may have noticed that the audio and video can go out of sync. This is especially noticeable with handsets like the Samsung Galaxy range, and even iPhones we hear.

Apparently the reason this happens is because the phone people use such wacky compression to maximize memory card storage space that it breaks normal video editors instantly, even the more sophisticated ones like Adobe’s Premiere Elements Pro.

The annoying thing is even if you just upload the video to YouTube clean, without doing any editing, then it also corrupts after YouTube has finished with it.

As you can imagine this is a real pain, and having spent a few hours hunting for a solution the other day, I was just about to give up in disgust when I thought I’d try an old favorite video program I hadn’t thought of, and lo and behold it worked like a charm.

The freeware is Freemake Free Video Converter. We’ve previously enthused about the functionality of this program in terms of conversion and simple editing, but now we can add one more feature to the list, uploading high definition edited video to YouTube with intact audio syncing.

We don’t know how they do it, but the process couldn’t be simpler. Just add your smartphone video, select YouTube, enter your login details and wander off to make a cup of something. Within an impressively short period of time, the job will be done. Magic.

Now the program doesn’t have all the gorgeous editing power of something like Premiere Elements Pro. However it lets you cut/split, insert rudimentary transitions and add other video clips, which is good enough for most simple tasks. You can also add photos and additional audio if you want, which can be useful.

So there you have it, quick and easy. Let us know in the comments if it solves the problem for you.
