Robots are cool right? Robots that smash stuff are even better, and I’m not talking about smashing toys, I’m talking about smashing buildings. This is the Husqvarna DXR 310, demolition robot for use in hard-to-reach, or dangerous-to-break-stuff areas.
It’s hydraulic, with a 22kW electric motor providing the power and not providing fumes, so it can be used inside safely. It’s also self-propelled which is handy because it weighs nearly 2 tonnes. It’s twin tracks make it highly manouverable and it can actually change its track gauge to fit through doors as narrow as 78cm. The four outriggers are independently adjustable to work on uneven surfaces and allow a 5.5m reach.
It can handle a range of attachments like jack hammers, claws and scoops. Husqvarna have pitched it for use in dangerous areas like demolition of piping, courtyards, stairwells, roofs, balconies and oven linings etc. They reckon it also does well in sensitive environments.
