Shop guilt free at IKEA in the future as the parent company of the popular furniture store is ramping up its plans to become carbon neutral over the next decade. They’ll be pouring £171 million into green energy and sustainable practices.
The company will be pushing half the money towards renewable energy projects to support heating and cooling as well as power. This will be in partnerships with suppliers and parts of the supply chain that are a bit more tricky such as textile and glass production.
The other half will be towards reforestation to help increase the chances of carbon sequestration through trees. These will be focused on tropical and subtropical locations. Honestly, that helps everyone, even if you don’t shop at IKEA.
